recipe: choux a la creme < cream puff >6.07.2012
i really love our little kitchen. it's small, but it's all i need for now, really... i could spend hours and hours in this little space of mine. and maybe that's why i've been on a cooking spree!
on my birthday, my best friend took me to one of my favorite little eatery, bruges. i absolutely looove their waffle monster. i've been wanting to recreate their famous dessert, but i haven't had much success in getting the waffles just like theirs. but i think i have everything else figured out.
anyway, because i still can't recreate their waffles, i made choux cream and put all the waffle monster toppings on it instead. i think it turned out quite delicious.
< ingridients >
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup water
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
vanilla ice cream
choice of your berries
crunchy speculoo spread
< directions >
step 1-- preheat oven to 425 degrees F ( 220 degrees C).
step 2-- in a large pot, bring water and butter to boil. stir in flour and salt until the mixture forms a ball. transfer the dough to a large mixing bowl. using a wooden spoon or stand mixer, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. drop by table spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.
step 3-- bake for 20-25 min in the preheated oven, until golden brown. centers should be dry.
step 4-- slice the puff in half using a bread knife. on the bottom of the puff spread the crunchy speculoo spread, a scoop of ice cream, and top it off with your choice of berries.
