I received more questions about juicing after I posted this post-- which makes me so happy and excited that people are wanting to learn more about this awesome lifestyle.
So, I thought I'd answer all those questions here.

Now, this post is going to be information overload. Consider this your warning. ;)

Earlier this month, my husband did a 10 day cleanse and I did a 3 day cleanse. (Some of you probably saw that on my instagram and twitter account.)

Here are few questions I've received:

Q:  Are you allowed to eat any solids during the cleanse? Like salad or fruits?
A: You know, I've hear different types of juice diets that do allow you to eat certain solids throughout the day. I've never tried those methods, so I can't really say how effective it is. But the type that we do is a cleanse, therefore, no solids are allowed. It's a strict juice fast. We drink fruits based juice for breakfast, a mixture of vegetable & fruits for lunch, and vegetable base juice for dinner. We drink about 25-30 oz of fluids a day.

Q: Do you do anything to prepare for the fast?
A: Yes! Even when we are not juicing, we drink a cup of fresh lemon water right when we wake up. It's usually the first thing that we do every morning. It's a morning ritual. During the fast, we drank our normal dose of lemon water AND we drank ginger tea an hour before we had our breakfast juice. Ginger is commonly used in aiding digestion and it's very useful in supporting the body as it cleanses itself during a fast.

Q: Do you have some recipes from the cleanse you just did?
A: I wrote down all 30 recipes towards the end of this post.

Q: Aren't the greener juices hard to drink?
A: Yes, and no. If it taste too greeny for me, I usually add ice. Making the juice colder somehow helps me drink it down. And if it's still hard to drink after you added ice? Add an apple to it. Or drink it with a chaser!

Q: Do you use all organic fruits and vegetables?
A: I do. But that doesn't mean when you juice, you have to buy all organic produce. You can use whatever you want. And also, just because it has the USDA certified sticker on there, that doesn't mean it's always better. The term "organic" is not well defined here in the states, I've noticed. Honestly, this topic should be saved for another day. But to answer this question, just buy whatever type of produce you usually buy.

Q: You recommended the Hurom Slow Juicer and Breville compact fountain, is there anything in between that you would recommend?
A: Truthfully, I haven't done research for anything in between. I use my Hurom almost daily and I swear by it. I've gifted my mama the Breville compact fountain and she loves it. I've used the Breville compact fountain juicer few times and I think it's a great one as well... But as far as anything in between goes I can't recommend anything from personal experience, but one of my friends has this model of Breville and she absolutely loves it. And  a girl who reads this blog purchased the Breville Fountain Crush Slow Juicer, it's Breville's first masticating/slow juicer. She sent me an email raving about it. This is their newest product, so I want to do more research on it, but depending on what I find out about it, I might switch over to it! It really sounds amazing. ** But also know that no matter how expensive and amazing your juicer is, some nutrients will always get lost in juicing. You will be able to get higher quota of some nutrients but definitely not all of them. So, try to still eat as much produce as possible daily (obviously, other than the days you are not doing the cleanse.)

Q: How did your husband feel during and after such a long cleanse?
A: He says the week mark was the hardest. He just wanted something to chew on! He always had a lot of energy in the morning and early afternoons. Night times were the hardest. His piece of advice is to always keep yourself busy. Also, he lost about 11lbs! Another bonus? While everyone around us has been getting deathly ill from the flu and cold, we've been the only ones that still hasn't caught anything this winter!

** Go easy on your first meal after your cleanse. Also, you may notice some weight gain right after you eat your first meal. This is completely normal. Your body has been fasting. Its naturally going to want to store most of the food you just consumed-- this will not last long. My husband gained 2lbs back the first day. And lost 1lb the second day after breaking the fast. So, he lost total of 10lbs.
