Let's talk about juicing!
A while ago I mentioned about juicing here on my blog and I received couple of questions about it, so I thought I'd answer few questions on here.

---- UPDATED ----

Q:What juicer do you use?
A: I use the Hurom Slow Juicer

Q:Why did you choose Hurom Slow Juicer?
A: My wonderful friend, Julie who is insanely knowledgable about nutrition recommended it to me. But I'm not the type of person who makes a big purchase solely based on one recommendation, so I did my research. After weeks of research I decided that Hurom was the best choice for myself and my husband. If you're unfamiliar with the world of juice extractors, the first thing that you need to know is that juicers fall into two main categories: centrifugal juicers and masticating juicers. I know, weird words, right? Centrifugal juicers are the most common variety of household juicer; they work by grinding fruits and vegetables into a pulp and forcing the juice out from the pulp by spinning at high speeds. Masticating juicers more slowly crush and squeeze the juice out of fruits and vegetables. The Hurom Slow Juicer is this latter type.

Q: What is special about Hurom? Is it worth the money?
A: Hurom is a little bit on the pricey side. If you are going to juice everyday, then yes, I believe that it is worth the investment. And Hurom Slow Juicer is special because it doesn't "shred" your juice with fast-spinning blades like your other traditional juicer. This prevents oxidation of your juice -- the chemical process that causes air to react with the juice and deplete its valuable nutrients. The fresh juice extracted by the Hurom Slow Juicer is the most nutritionally potent juice you can make at home. The more you're aware of the amazing healing qualities of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, the more you'll appreciate Hurom's "trituration" technology that protects juice from oxidation-- this is just one of the amazing qualities about the juicer out of many!

Q: I'm not ready to make the plunge to invest in Hurom. Do you have any recommendation for juicer on a budget?
A: Yes! Absolutely. My second option for a juicer would be the Breville Compact Juice Fountain. In fact, I just purchased this for my mother for Christmas. I've used it few times and it was really great. It is a lot louder than Hurom, but it does the job. Also, it's so much easier to clean than the Hurom- BONUS!

Q: What is your favorite juice recipe?
A: I have a lot of favorites. It all depends on my mood and what we have in the fridge. The easiest recipe would be the The Ultimate Green Power Juice.

 3 Green Apples
1 Bunch Spinach
3 Celery Stalks
1 Lime or Lemon

 1. Wash all fruits and vegetables.
2. Cut apples into quarters, remove core, and cut off ends. Do not peel off the skin.
3. Wash spinach leaves and celery stalks and cut into halves.
 4. Juice all fruits and vegetables.
5. Squeeze lemon into juice by hand and mix thoroughly before serving

On an unrelated note, let's go lakerrrss!!

Oh, my! You are the nicest Cece!! You always make me feel like a million bucks.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
And yes!! Start juicing! Juicing will never replace real fruits and veggies, but if you are a picky eater like I am, then it will compensate for that!

You need to get the Hurom, Rachael! It will be a great tax deduction. Plus, I would want you to start a juicing series. ;)
